Code - OSS is the community-developed source repository behind Visual Studio Code, combining code editing, navigation, understanding, lightweight debugging, and an extension model. It is the place to study, contribute to, or build from the editor core. The downloadable Visual Studio Code product adds Microsoft-specific customizations and is distributed under a separate product license.

Warp is an agentic development environment built around the terminal. You can use its built-in coding agent or bring command-line agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI. The client codebase is open source and can be built locally; most of the repository is licensed under AGPLv3, while the Warp UI crates use MIT.

goose is an extensible open-source agent available as a desktop app, CLI, and API for coding and broader workflows. Instead of stopping at suggestions, it can install dependencies, execute commands, edit files, and run tests with the user's chosen LLM. It supports macOS, Linux, and Windows, and can be repackaged as a custom distribution with preconfigured model providers, extensions, and branding.

Claude Code Router provides a local model gateway and desktop control panel for Claude Code, Codex, and ZCode. Users can combine providers, define conditional routes and fallbacks, rewrite requests, rotate credentials, and inspect usage or logs from one place. After adding providers and starting the service, agent tools can share the same routing layer instead of being configured separately.
